*What is Polio?
Polio is a crippling and potentially deadly infectious disease caused by a virus invading the brain and spinal cord and causing paralysis. Because polio has no cure, vaccination is the best way to protect yourself and the only way to stop the disease from spreading.
Sponsored by the international service organization Rotary International, Rotaract brings together college students and young business professionals for humanitarian service and networking. As one of the fastest-growing Rotary programs, Rotaract has a strong international presence and includes more than 8,400 Rotaract clubs in 170 countries.
Chartered in 2000, our UC Berkeley Rotaract chapter is one out of eight Rotaract clubs in Rotaract District 5160. As a university-based club, Cal Rotaract consists mainly of undergraduate students and is one of the largest Rotaract clubs in the world. The club is an excellent forum for service, professional development and fellowship.
Cal Rotaract offers interesting and exciting projects that make a difference to benefit our local, national, and international communities. Our service projects are designed to improve the quality of life at home and abroad and we strive to address some of the world’s most critical issues, such as childhood malnutrition, hunger, access to clean water, the environment, and illiteracy.
